Putin’s visit marks step to deepen ties with India—deputy PM

(MENAFN) Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov described President Vladimir Putin’s forthcoming visit to India as a significant move to deepen strategic partnership between Moscow and New Delhi.

Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Manturov noted that the trip marks a return to the tradition of annual high-level summits. Putin is scheduled to arrive on December 4 for a two-day visit, which will be his tenth to India and the first since 2021.

“That would be the first visit of our President Vladimir Putin to your friendly country for a long period of time,” Manturov said. “That returns us to the tradition of annual high-level summits which represents an undeniable success. Together with our Indian colleagues we have thoroughly prepared the agenda for the visit. We expect that all the meetings and negotiations that are to take place will be fruitful and will give new momentum for our two countries’ strategic cooperation in all areas.”

He added that senior officials and business leaders from both countries will convene under the India-Russia Forum, which aims to expand and diversify bilateral trade, including enhancing Indian exports of equipment, raw materials, and food products to Russia.

Manturov, who also co-chairs the India-Russia Inter-governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological, and Cultural Cooperation, emphasized that the visit is intended to boost collaboration across multiple sectors.
