India Voices Concern Over Venezuela’s Situation

(MENAFN) India has conveyed “deep concern” regarding the recent US military offensive on Venezuela and the operation that resulted in the abduction of President Nicolas Maduro along with his wife on Saturday.

In a carefully phrased declaration issued Sunday, the Indian Foreign Ministry stated it was attentively observing the developments in the oil-abundant South American nation.

“Recent developments in Venezuela are a matter of deep concern,” the Indian Foreign Ministry emphasized, noting that the South Asian country “reaffirms its support to the well-being and safety” of the Venezuelan population.

The ministry further urged, “We call upon all concerned to address issues peacefully through dialogue, ensuring peace and stability of the region.” Notably, India’s statement avoided directly naming the United States.

Other BRICS members, including Russia, China, Brazil, and Iran, denounced Washington’s actions in Venezuela. “Venezuela should be guaranteed the right to determine its own destiny without external interference,” the Russian Foreign Ministry declared on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva asserted that the bombings and Maduro’s capture “cross an unacceptable line.”
