Indiana National Guard to commemorate 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 with four F-16 flyovers across 10 high school football games

FORT WAYNE, Ind. —Four Indiana National Guard F-16s will conduct 10 flyovers across northeast Indiana within a three-minute window on Friday, Sept. 11, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The flyovers and subsequent moments of silence will take place at 7 p.m. prior to kickoff at 10 high school football games throughout the area.

In solemn remembrance of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, the Indiana National Guard and local high schools will pause to honor the nearly 3,000 civilians, first responders and service members who lost their lives in New York City, at the Pentagon and in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. We remember their families, whose sacrifice endures every day.

For the Indiana National Guard, Sept. 11, 2001, redefined our mission and our calling. In the 25 years following that morning, the men and women of the Hoosier Guard answered the call without hesitation. We remember, with profound gratitude and reverence, our fallen Hoosier Guardsmen who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed. Their legacy of selfless service remains the bedrock of our unit and state.

The flyovers and moments of silence will take place at the following locations:

Adams Central High School, Monroe, Indiana Bellmont High School, Decatur, Indiana Bishop Dwenger High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana Bishop Luers High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana Columbia City High School, Columbia City, Indiana Concordia Lutheran High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana Heritage High School, Monroeville, Indiana New Haven High School, New Haven, Indiana Northrop High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana Wayne High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Additionally, a moment of silence will be observed at the following high schools, along with a static military helicopter display as part of 25th anniversary remembrance.
