RICHMOND, VIRGINIA — The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) is canceling in-person visitation at Indian Creek Correctional Center in Chesapeake for Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, 2026, out of an abundance of caution following reports of gastrointestinal illness among a small percentage of incarcerated individuals and corrections team members at the facility.
Video visitation at Indian Creek will continue as scheduled.
VADOC is coordinating its response to these reported illnesses with the Virginia Department of Health and closely following their recommendations, guidance, and best practices to appropriately manage this incident.
Loved ones can check updated visitation statuses on the Visiting an Inmate section of the VADOC’s website. Any additional changes to visitation will be communicated through this section of the agency’s website.
